Tell us about your ceremony
Registry was small and intimate with only 100 people. We choose the vows and music ourselves. Hindu ceremony was traditional but also translated in English so that everyone could understand.
What would you say were the highlights from your wedding?
From the Registry it was taking vows, entrance and the speeches at the reception and having fun with friends and family on the dance floor. Hindu wedding- entrance and seeing Shilpen for the first time. Couples shoot and going Watford Temple after the wedding
What were the most meaningful moments?
Hindu wedding- doing faira and saying goodbye to my family. Seeing all my friends and family – all the people I love and care about.
Registry- Choosing and saying the vows and reading that my friend done for me. Choosing the entrance music and Shilpen speech along with my brother and best friend.
What was your biggest challenge, and how did you overcome it?
Biggest challenge was to try to keep everything small. I tried to do this with keeping home events minimal and got people to confirm numbers. We tried to do the same for the Hindu wedding and for the registry we only invited friends, cousins, sibling and our parents.
What was the funniest moment of your wedding or reception? At the Hindu wedding it has got to be in the mandap- my mum was making us laugh about not being able to see her friends. At the registry the fun moment was when Shilpen starting saying the vows again when it was my turn.
What was the most important lesson you learned from your wedding?
Nothing and I mean nothing goes exactly to plan. Make sure you have reliable people on hand to help you. I had my brother, sister in law and good friends and family to help out on the spot.
How did you go about outfit shopping, did you stay in the UK or go abroad?
I when to India for five days. I brought my outfit from Seasons and Shilpen’s outfit form Options – both in Mumbai. I brought my shoes, jewellery and accessories from Mumbai too.
