There isn’t really a right or wrong when it comes to how much your going to spend on your wedding shoes? or is there?
Well its the biggest day of your life so maybe you should be paying extra.
We do a LOT of swooning over shoes here on the blog, in particular its the designer shoes that get us doing the happy dance famous designer brands like Christian Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik, Jimmy Choo. I wonder why, is it because they scream elegance or wealth. or is it just because they make us feel special, like a star?
Whose to say you can’t find a flattering, leg-lengthening, and glamorous pair of shoes from the high street, of course you can, but if they only cost say £50 would you feel less glam?
above – My wedding shoes, little similar to the these, heel was a little more
I brought my wedding shoes from Gina, and they came in at around £180 in the sale they had been around originally £420. I was on to a total bargain. The whole thing was a bit of fluke really, i didn’t even have a dress yet, or more importantly a wedding date, hah! but getting a designer pair for half price, well they just had to be my wedding shoes!
They were sparkly, virtually weightless and gold, now we all know gold goes with everything right?
But when the time came, with only a few weeks left to the wedding, my wedding dress was a little too long on me, the 4 inch heel really weren’t cutting it, and me being on the small side i needed more height! My prefect wedding shoes didn’t seems so prefect anymore, and the gold seemed to clash with my lengha {i know why did i buy them first?!} well to cut a long story short i ended up buying another pair which cost £45, I must admit thinking ugh they only cost £45, like that wasn’t enough, not that they weren’t gorgeous, they were. I just felt the amount somehow had something to do with how special they were supposed to make me feel, of course this feeling passed. and everything went ahead just fine!
So what happened to my Gina shoes, well i have since wore them more than a dozen times, and even wore my wedding shoes a couple of times, and regardless of the price there my wedding shoes, and now realise that what makes them special to me! Simple as that.
I love to hear what you think….
How much will you or did you spend?
Is the amount we spend important? Because its your wedding shoes are you feeling more inclined to spend more? splash out on a designer pair? or is it all down to budget?

i think its because for me (and maybe for others) its probably the only occasion that i can justify paying a stupid amount for shoes and get away with it! whats the point in spending 1000s on a wedding outfit and then not having shoes to the same standard?
Price has very little to do with anything I purchase. I rarely care how high or low something is in price, if I like something, I will buy or (or dream to!). My wedding shoes were from Dune, £135, and I LOVE them. I’ve been married 3 months now, and I must have worn them 3-4 times since the wedding. Always get complimented on them. I did look at other designer sandals, and didn’t find any that I liked more that the Dune ones. Thanks to my hubby who bought them for me (no, he didn’t choose them
)
I had a budget to stick to, so I knew designer wedding shoes were not an option. I had my dream dress and had trawled the shops looking for some affordable but “special” shoes but all my favourite shoe shops came up short. I ended up finding a REALLY cheap pair, they were the right height, they were comfortable and nodoby even saw them underneath my wedding outfit. For me it was all about the dress, the jewellery and the make-up.
i plan to have a designer pair of shoes, but agree that your dream pair could come from any store! plus i feel designer shoes give more comfort and thats what you want on your wedding day!
I was lucky enough to have “2″ weddings – the civil/registry and our religious wedding. And for both events I splurged on my shoes.. Mainly because I am an out-an-out “shoe-a-holic”!! The second pair were a pair of Swarovski encrusted Gina sandals (which were gifted to me by my sister!!) but they are (for shoe lovers) a DREAM! so comfortable, classic and I will continue to wear them at most events, which, in my eyes, makes the 400 pounds spent on them worthwhile. However, it is down to each person’s tastes and circumstances as to how much they want to spend on their wedding shoes, or even their wedding outfit and jewellery. Some people would rather spend the 400 pounds on table decor which afterwards gets thrown away! my (sister’s) 400 pounds are safely-tucked away in my wardrobe, which I will be pulling out to wear again in two week’s time for a wedding (“,)
well, I didn’t even buy new shoes! am wearing an old pair. shock horror! They cost £135 when new though and I’ve only worn them once before x
ok so it really depends how obsessed with the shoe aspect we are i guess..ps no one saw my shoes either..
I think since most Indian wedding shoes end up being golden and that color is like a staple in every girls wardrobe, its good to invest in a nice sparkly golden shoe,, plus you have to wear it for hours! so comfort is equally important!!!
I’m a lucky bride-to-be who has been given her bridal shoes! My other half presented me with a pair of Jimmy Choo’s as a birthday present. So instead of walking around in them now I’m going to wait for the big day to wear them
